Lee Carter Named President of Board of Directors for All 4 Autism

Florence, SC — The 2017-18 Board of Directors for All 4 Autism were inducted July 1, with Lee Carter elected to serve as President. Carter, a native of Kingstree, South Carolina, is a partner and Client Wealth Manager at Armstrong Wealth Management in Florence. The 18-member board is the governing body of All 4 Autism, a local advocacy organization that provides support and resources to those with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and their families, in the area.

Founded in 2009, the group began as a small support group for parents of children with ASD in the Florence area. On April 25, 2017, All 4 Autism celebrated the opening of the Autism Resource Center of the Pee Dee – the first and only in the region. The center provides support services, referrals, resources and workshops, with the purpose of serving as a central headquarters for local families affected by autism. All of the programs are free and open to the public.

"This year's board is composed of a dedicated group of individuals committed to furthering the mission of All 4 Autism in the Pee Dee Region. With the recent opening of the Autism Resource Center, families in this area no longer have to travel far distances to get questions answered or find out what services or resources may be available to them." Lee Carter, 2017-18 All 4 Autism Board President.

With 1 in 68 children diagnosed with autism, the need for services and support has increased at an alarming rate, with many families searching for help, or being placed on waiting lists for the early interventions and therapies that are crucial to those on the spectrum. The lack of local resources was the motivation for All 4 Autism to move from a volunteer parent support group, to a true advocacy and resource agency for families in the Pee Dee.

“In the last year, we have provided direct services or information to over 200 families in our area,” said Jessica Brown, Executive Director for All 4 Autism. “The increase in the services we are able to offer is due to the dedicated directors that give their time and energy to serve on our board, and their efforts to secure the donors and volunteers that make this program possible.”

In addition to the daily support services that are available through the resource center, All 4 Autism will host Camp Saint John, an inclusion summer camp for kids ages 4-18. There are various workshops scheduled for July and August, as well. For more information, visit the calendar of events at www.all4autism.org.
